Hi all,

I'd like to get a good aftermarket heatsink to help keep things a little cooler... only I don't know what heatsink will fit, here is what u have:

Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 Mid tower

Mobo: Asrock z68 Extreme 3 gen 3

16gb ram so all four banks are taken

I would be willing to spend up to $50-$60.

Thanks for any help.

I've been looking at the 212, but would my mid tower case be big enough for something like that?

The only concern is clearance from CPU to the side of the Case. Mid-Towers are plenty big for Tower Heatsinks, although some Tower/HS won't fit in many Cases as they are too narrow.

It will fit into your casing with no problems whatsoever. The CM Hyper212 Evo is pretty small compared to a giant like the Noctua NH-D14.

The HAF 912 is about 9 inches wide, the 212 coolers are a little over 6 inches tall. Even factoring in the motherboard and tray, you'll have plenty of room. The Noctua D14 isn't taller, just bulkier. My case is almost an inch narrower, cooler is the same height as the 212, and it fits fine.

Silver Arrow. Comes with two 140mm PWM fans. It's about the best of the air coolers, and not as expensive as a D14 or a Phanteks.

I just read that you can mount the 212 with the fan facing east / west, or north / south... is that true? If so that's just awesome!

A lot of the coolers you can rotate 90 degrees...the mounting holes on the 1155 boards are a perfect square...

I can also attest that the HAF 912 has tremendous room. My old True120 (which is tall) looked like it was floatting in there, while my previous case I had to remove a sidefan and mount to the outside to get it to fit....

I think most allthe coolers on the market will fit this case....

Thanks man. Seeing you have the exact same mobo as I do makes me feel better about your post as well as I'm assuming you had the board in the 912 case.

I should get the 212 any day now but are you all sure that thing will fit? Look at how close the stock Intel heatsink is to the RAM! Sorry for the bad quality.
