I want to get the best heatsink and fan for a AMD 64 90mn 3500+, but do not know whats out there. Quite and Cool is important. Thanks

MSI K8N or EPOX mobo
AMD 64, 939, 3500+ 90nm
2 NEC 3500A
3 Hard drives
1 Floppy
nForce 6800 GT (unless pci express comes out soon)
RME Hammerfall 96/52 (pro audio sound card)
Antec Sonata Case
1-2 Gigs Cosair Value ram
Modem

The best heatsink out there is the Thermalright XP-120, but it won't fit the MSI board and if you get the Epox you won't be able to use RAM DIMM #1. The next best heatsink is the Thermalright XP-90 which will fit both boards. If you're not overclocking a Nexus 92mm probably is a good choice.
Check this review where they also use the Nexus: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article194-page3.html

xp-90 will fit but it is very close, it is right over the video card slot one way and the other it is right over two memory slots, you might be able to still use them but I doubt it. A better bet IMO is the Swiftech MCX6400-V just ordered mine and it should be here by thursday. I will post some temps when I have it going.

I'm running an ASUS A8V with a 3500+, using a Zalman Super Flower (7000-Cu), and I've seen a maximum of 25°C so far (only built this 4 days ago). This is with the Zalman running it's minimum speed = silent.

...also, using Ceramique.

I think the case is probably as important as the cooler. I'm running a CoolerMaster Ali case with 2x80mm intake and 1x80mm rear, with a Tagan PSU helping with exhaust duties. MBM is reporting Case temps of 19-22°C, which obvously helps a great deal.

Thermalright has the best sinks right now in the three big ones 948u, xp90 and xp120. Also right up there are the hyper6 and similarly styled heatsinks. Zalmans are quite a ways behind unless you demand on a silent or near-silent fan.

i think verax has the best air cooling solution out there. damn expensive tho, like 120 euros. too much for my taste so i went with a 25 bucks arctic cooling freezer 64 thats quiet and keeps my cpu very cool its listed for up to 5000+. i have to say that i dont overclock anything tho so if you wanna do that i cant how good it does that.
