I did a search on this but nobody was looking for headphones for gaming. I want to be sure before I spend $100+ on quality headphones.

The only thing is I can only spend cash. Meaning I can only buy from local stores (or trading forum, but a buyer backed out :(. Thanks so much.

Do you know of a different place that sells them (grado and Sennheiser) that I can pay cash at? I am in Cincinnati Ohio.

Sony does have those surround sound headphones, that use 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound....

I've never listened to them though, so I dont know how good or bad they are. I've heard from people that the sound is OKAY, and the surround sound isn't that impressive.... But that might have been from an anal guy. you can look up the reviews somewhere i think the model number is:
Sony DSC-5000 (the letters might be mixed up, and the 5000 is the old model, there is a 5100 i think which supports another type of surround sound.)

I have a pair of the sony-MDR V600's. They ran me about $100(US) These are the headphones that thresh used when he played quake(I think that he's retired?) They are super comfortable, and their imaging is great.
I've heard good things about senheisers(sp?) and the grados.
Any of these should work great.
PM me if you have any more questions
or post on the board for the benifit of all!
Hope this helps,
Mike

Oh, I also forgot to mention,
I have the Sony MDR-V600's also. and they are really nice, one of the more important things about it is that it is comfortable also. You dont wanna get just good sound quality but hurt your head....

Never knew they were used by a professional gamer....that explains why i get all those frags.. :D

I find that I liked the older Sony MDR-V6 better than the newer model (V600). They have awesome imaging. I can hear which hall the terrorist is in :) Also, they have much better bass in my opinion. You can get them for $80 i think at djmart.com shipped free last time i checked.

I have a pair of sennheiser HD535's i got for $79.99 at tweeter. I think they are a chain home audio store so they might have a store around you. If they do go there and you can check out some headphones. They had mostly Sennheiser headphones and a couple of sonys at my store.
