Best HDD sector test?

I know of HDtune, but I'm looking for something with a little more detail if possible. Also I want it to run in windows. Thanks
 
Usually the best test for your drive is the one provided by the manufacturer of your drive. Hiren's Boot CD has all the major ones if you've already burned a copy of that.

What are you really looking for? What's wrong with chkdsk? No matter what tool you use, it won't be able to run on a mounted drive so that means you can't do your system drive. Any secondary drives can be done but they'll be force dismounted and inaccessible during the test.
 
you could use a balloon app to fill the emtpy space of the drive and then sdelete or secure erase it.
