I’m working on in house IP camera system deployment, the server is done and Windows 7 Pro is all setup. I would like to make an image of the system as is so we can try various software demo packages and wipe the system clean and restore so the system doesn’t get too bogged down while decide on a final solution.

OS drive is 64GB Corsair Performance 3 SSD.

I was looking at Acronis True Image, is there anything else I should be looking at that would be better?

Ive an icybox external hd enclosure with a 200Gb Western Digital hdd.
Whenever I try to store large amounts of data in a single run on it, using
firewire or USB, Windows XP loses the drive completely. Sometimes the Icybox
turns itself off too, so I assume it's overheating problems.

Not enough power? Bad USB-power connection cable? Happened to me quite a lot, like you said, transferring a lot of data. Had to switch my enclosure.
