As far as I've heard, the Adaptec is the only hardware RAID controller. It's speculated that Hotpoint controllers are software on chip, and they don't do RADI 5 anyway so why bother.
Go to pricewatch.com and search for "aaa-udma", I only got two returns so you may want to look at other sources.
Promise RAID controllers, to put it simply, suck when compared to even low-end SCSI RAID solutions. No background array rebuilding, horrible problems with hotswapping etc...
I would avoid basically all the current Promise RAID cards like the plague, they are all terrible products. 3Ware makes pretty good cards, I would probably avoid the Adaptec card because reports say the performance is terrible since it is simply a SCSI card with and IDE translator. My current recommendation would be the new Promise RAID controllers which appear to be "real" hardware RAID controllers. If you thought the V5 6000 was big, steer clear of these since they are full length PCI cards.
