Best Hardware for Half-Life 2

The game is running a tad bit too slow on my rig. Almost dizzy inducing.

AMD XP 2800+ OC'd to 3200

1024 mb pc3200 mushkin

Nvidia Geforce 6800GT

Asus A7N8X delux mobo

I have a feeling I need to upgrade, but if I did what would be ideal and will it realy make an impact on the game?

That should run smooth as silk for 1024x768. At higher res you might need a socket 939 and A64 3500+ but your 6800GT is fine -- look at its scores paired with an A64 4000+ at 1600x1200 (click the "Video" tab at top of page).

You didnt state what rez you're runnng the game at. What AA and Ansio settings are you using? What about Audio quality?

It runs perfectly on my P4 2.8, gig of PC2700, GeForce 6800, etc.. and the games runs wonderfully at 1280x1024... drivers maybe?

What??? It should easily run fast enough. I play at 1280x1024, and the only real slowdowns I got were a couple parts of the single player. My video card is much slower (9800P), and the likely cause of my slowdowns seemed to be swapping, so 1GB of RAM should be much better.

Did you check the frame rate? I doubt it's goes below 50fps on your system, so either you are just motion sick or just being a drama queen.

LOL I do get car sick if other people drive.

I run the game with all the settings on high audio included. AA at 4 and AS for awhile on highest, now on 8.

I run the game at 1280X1024 on a Samsung 710T LCD.

I may be comming down with a bug because I have'nt played any games today and I am feeling dizzy, very dizzy earlier. Must be inner ear virus or something.

By summer I am planning ot upgrade to a 764 mobo with probably the A64 3700+.

I am not a drama queen! How dare you; I have never been so offended in my life! Oh my! How could you!?!?! I thought you loved me you bastard!!!! Waaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!

Would that run the game better?

erm a little better, but Hl2 will only run really well on ati cards currently
