Best Hard Drive Setup

I recently bought a 160gb Maxtor IDE ULTRA ATA133, it came with a PCI ATA133 controller. I have an Abit IS7 mb which is rated up to ATA100. Will the drive operate faster on the ATA133 controller? Is there a way for me to verify the operating speed of the disk? Thanks.
