Another vote for Stevie Ray Vaughn. Anyone ever see a live performance of his? That guy is absolutely ridiculous. I still remember the day he went down. :-(

Berle Ives first, with Slim Whitman a close second. When Berle would wail on his axe,and start screaming "Green Peas",man it didnt get any better.

Well, I cannot say who the best of all time is but I can say that my absolute favorite would be:

The Edge.

OK...I'm a metal fan myself and you all have great choices, but you must include Roy Clark. Not glamorous, but man that guy can play!

Talon thanks for the additions!

I totally forgot about Django, Lenny Breau and Charlie Christian.

Amish, who do you not know? 1/4 of the guys I mentioned are jazz/fusion guitarists... If you want some info on some of these guys let me know!

Les Paul, along with all the others posted here. Glad to see Frampton recognized. Has anyone ever mimicked his technique in "feel like I do"?

What about Alex Lifeson!!! You know, the guitarist from Rush ;)

John Petruccio = Dream Theater
Ler Lalonde = Primus
Jeff Martin = Tea Party
Steve Howe = Yes

The rest are mostly jazz except Yngwie and Johnny Marr.

Oh, forgot to add Yngwie. I have a couple of his albums. :)

I really dislike Rush.

I've heard some Dream Theater, Primus, and Yes, but I didn't know their names. Never heard of Tea Party.

AAAHHHH!!! Never mention dislike/hate/dispise Rush in the same sentence ;). (You do realise I give all non Rush fans a rating of 1 don't you? ;) j/k)

I suggest that you check out Tea Party... especialy the albums Splendor Solis and The Edges of Twilight. They have some awesome guitar and are great albums.
