MSI gtx580 lightning or the ASUS Matrix are best gtx 580's for about 500$.

I would grab the lightning (easier to sli later). :)

I sincerely hope you're not going to pay for those components.

  • The motherboard is completely overkill
  • 2600K is a waste of money for gaming and watching movies
  • Corsair H100 is a waste of money, a $35 air cooler will do everything a cooler needs to do
  • GTX 580 is a a waste of money. If you want a high performing gaming setup, 560 ti 2GB SLI or 6950 2GB crossfire is much better. And a single 6950 2GB or GTX 570 will play every game fine, you can later upgrade it to a HD7000/GTX600 series card.
  • 2133MHz memory is complete waste of money. You will get maybe 1% higher performance than with DDR3-1600.
  • What do you need a 256GB SSD for? It would be much more cost effective to use a small 64GB SSD as a cache for a large 1TB hard disk.
  • 920W is complete overkill for a GTX 580
  • Given that H100 is a waste of money, you don't need a HAF 932. HAF 912 does everything a gaming case needs to do.
And in addition, since this is a FUTURE build... exactly how far in the future are we talking about?

Just my $0.02

But for you'r others question:
Future = some weeks... it's my Christmas gift, from me to me ; )
I always wanted a Huge PC, and something to play at ultra details for 2-3 years.
And for the GTX-580, I want to SLI after [2-3 years : )] that why is my choice.

Anyway I thank you for your concerns...
But, in this thread I don't want to deviate from my principal concern...the GPU

Sorry man... I dont want to be rude  ... but you answer to all of the questions...except to my question lol :p

Wich model did you recommand me for GTX-580 ? :colbert:

Peace ; )

  • The motherboard is completely overkill

The motherboard is the most important part of any system, whats overkill for you might not be for others.
  • 2600K is a waste of money for gaming and watching movies

WHen games make use of more than 4 cores it will not be a waste of money

  • Corsair H100 is a waste of money, a $35 air cooler will do everything a cooler needs to do

Wrong again, If you want a cool and quiet system without the worry of the cooler hitting your high performance ram, this is the best choice

The gtx 580 is the fastest smoothest gaming experience money can buy with no microstutter @ 1900x1080
  • 2133MHz memory is complete waste of money. You will get maybe 1% higher performance than with DDR3-1600.

WHen the OP wants to upgrade to ivybridge 22nm cpus, he wont have to buy new faster memory
  • What do you need a 256GB SSD for? It would be much more cost effective to use a small 64GB SSD as a cache for a large 1TB hard disk.

Mabe he wants games on his SSD, I have over 200gb of games on my drive. They will load faster
  • 920W is complete overkill for a GTX 580

Not if he wants to sli in the future or has a few harddrives added on and/or a overclocked cpu.
  • Given that H100 is a waste of money, you don't need a HAF 932. HAF 912 does everything a gaming case needs to do.

I bought a ANtec 1200 over 2 years ago and it was exspensive and worth every penny. WHo are you to tell him what kind of case he needs?
And in addition, since this is a FUTURE build... exactly how far in the future are we talking about?

Are you the OP? No. If you find my post somehow bothers you, you can always report it to the forum moderators. This is a public forum where $0.02's can be expressed within the confines of the rules.

I'm not jealous, and if I gave you that impression, that's hardly my fault.

I always wanted a Huge PC, and something to play at ultra details for 2-3 years.

Just so you know, performance of a gaming PC is determined by the CPU and the GPU. Not by the expensive water cooler, or the expensive motherboard, or the expensive RAM, or the big SSD.

And for the GTX-580, I want to SLI after [2-3 years : )] that why is my choice.

Trust me on this, you won't want to SLI the GTX 580 later. In only a few months, much faster GPUs will be released. In a year from that point on, again much faster GPUs will be released. By the time your current GPU will feel slow, you will be much better off upgrading to newer GPU(s).

Sorry man... I dont want to be rude  ... but you answer to all of the questions...except to my question lol :p
I'm sorry, I can't give you a right answer because I think it's the wrong question.

My intention was to offer you an alternative view, you don't need to go rolling your eyes at me. You can take my advice or you can leave it. I don't think you're being rude, and I didn't intend to be rude either.

As I said, my $0.02.

@ Happy_Medium, for the record, I won't bother debating you, but I think you're wrong in all of your comments to my recommendations; you don't seem to know a lot about what counts in a PC and what doesn't.

I need to sleep too :)

I was not talking to you//about you..... why do you get that impression?
It was pretty obvious you referred to me.

msi lightning is by far the best, mine never goes over 64C at 100% load. Its the most consistent and stable oc'er according to the overclock.net nvda database.

I could understand this but the OP made it clear that budget isn't his concern, he's asking what the best 580 is.

I think his build is fine.

I'd hate to see your reaction to what I'm running.

Looks like MSI Lightning is a favorite. It is a great two-slot design, with an excellent power layout, sound, and performance characteristics.

I've smiled at three-slot designs and didn't bother researching the Matrix; but after looking at it's design, I'm impressed. I'd love to apply voltage bumps to this beast. Power consumption is pretty good actually, sips less than reference at idle. If someone has no plans to go SLI, and has three slots available, this thing is a beast.

If you plan to go SLI in the future, which I'm assuming you might be considering with the large power supply, keep in mind those MSI cards have large coolers. In my opinion they should only be run in SLI if they are spaced 3 slots apart. At 2 slots apart the fans might rub on the back of the 2nd card. I didn't research the pcie options for for board so it might not be an issue, but keep it in mind.

How splendid.

Is the purpose of your rig just gaming? Or are you a hardcore overclocker or benchmarker? Or did you just build it as a status symbol? Or did you build it in order to have it look great?
