T-Mobile or AT&T

I've had T-Mobile for about 6 years now, I have no complaints...other than lack of 3G, but AT&T ain't exactly in the forefront there either.

edit: missed the part about the iPhone. You'd have to unlock to go T-Mobile, but it doesn't do 3G, so that part isn't a moot point.

(I'd ask you why you're wasting your money on an iPhone, but that's an argument for another thread....)

nationally I think just AT&T and T-Mobile.

Obviously you'd have to go the unlock route with anybody other that AT&T.

There may be local GSM providers in your area, but the big ones are AT&T and T-Mo...I think they're buying up the smaller markets too...

It's unlocked - I don't use too many mintures (~150 anytime, and maybe 300 nights and weekends... i do need data and mucho SMS)

So you can use unlocked iPhone with T-Mobile? Interesting. Is it pretty much the same as if I used the iPhone on AT&T?

Yes, if a GSM phone is unlocked you can use it with any GSM provider as long as the phone supports that GSM provider's frequencies (all GSM providers in the US use the same frequencies, but T-Mobile's upcoming 3G network will probably run on a different frequency than AT&T's 3G network) and the phone's IMEI isn't blacklisted by the service provider. The unlocked iPhone will work on T-Mobile just as it does on AT&T. I don't have an iPhone, but if the iPhone has any Cingular customizations then those may not work on T-Mobile.

I suggest AT&T but I work for them so.... :D Don't know about NY coverage and service but I've never had a problem in the 6 years we had AT&T/Cingular before I started working for them and no problems now.
