Best GRE review?

I was wondering if anyone knew of a good GRE book/cdrom/etc to buy. Id like to take the GRE as soon as possible, because I think if I wait to long after getting out of school it will be much more difficult.

So if anyone knows of any good material could you let me know?

I haven't really looked into it, but I think Peterson's has a GRE review type of thing. I think that there is a *one time* practice exam on the web for free from their site.

I took it in January and got both the Barron's book and the Princeton Review book; both were pretty similar. The verbal section of standardized tests has never been my strong point, so I learned some pretty good tips on how to approach that section as well as the analytical writing section.

However, I must say that the quantitative (math) section of both books didn't really help me that much because as an engineering student, I've learned to use my math and problem solving skills to get the correct answer. On the other hand, the books seemed to assume that the reader only had the math skills of a ninth grader, so the method they try to teach you is kind of a trial and error, plug in all the answer choices type of approach, which I really didn't like since it can sometimes lead to an incorrect answer. So, I just skipped their strategies and worked the practice tests so I could familiarize myself with the type of math questions they ask.

I have the Kaplan's review book, and it seems to be pretty thorough. Comes with software (of course) and practice exams as well. The software also gives you a run-through of a mini-GRE before you begin studying, and then tells you which lessons you need to focus on the most. You tell the program how much time you have, and it tells you what you should do.

Be sure to take the practice tests on your computer. It feels a lot different doing it on the computer than taking one in a book. Good luck 🙂
