Far Cry. HL2 looks great, as does Doom 3. Graphics wise I think FC > D3 > HL2.

For Xbox, Ninja Gaiden is godly.

I think once Lost Coast gets released for HL2 that'll take the cake, but right now Far Cry wins it.

Xbox...yeah..Ninja Gaiden.

Donno if I'm gonna agree here. No question Far Cry looks great but I thought it was the use of folage/environment that really set that game appart. Far Cry, Half Life 2 and Doom3 all look great. Can you say Far Crys lighting is better than Doom3? I'm not sure that I will. My point is they are displaying different environments and cannot really be compaired. No question that Far Cry gameplay is better than Doom 3 But the question was graphics and I'll say all three games are great in there own way.

Farcry has good graphics, maybe the best after you apply all the patches including the 64 bit patch.

Overall, I have yet to see anything that struck me as beautiful as Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

The overall art direction in that game was fantastic, from the perfectly constructed Eastern setting, to the subtle glow effects used throughout, to the varied and gorgeous environments...Just thinking back to the climbing of the Tower of Dawn or the pillars of light streaming through the Hall of Learning gives me warm, fuzzy feelings.

So anyway, screw first person shooters - this one gets my vote.

And regarding Far Cry: You're all nuts. Half-Life 2 looked far better. Far Cry's LOD changes wreck the suspension of disbelief - textures and models in the distance are so blurry it's blah.

Best graphical game means the best game that has graphics (non-text). I would say that Deus Ex is one of the best games I've ever played along with Fallout. My all time favorite graphical game is probably Final Fantasy 6. I was so hooked that I had trouble sleeping.

i know it sounds nuts..but you have a point there.

Even if some engines look WAY outdated for today's hardware i always say there's something like an "atmosphere" factor - eg.gfx must not be top notch but might be able to create incredible atmosphere, just fits, nice level design and detailed game world.

Some "effects" are REALLY, REALLY simple - eg. i am always AMAZED what an extreme realistic effect "haze" has. Eg. in the real world its EXTREMELY rare that it's so clear you can see "endless" to the horizon...also, eg, colors in the real world are usually more subtle.

SOME bright game developers figured that out - EVEN if the engine itself doesnt use the ultra highest resolution/texture models etc.

Re: POP:SOT, yeah i remember getting a little chill especially climbing up that castle :) Some levels were definitly outstanding !!!

You have a point with KOTOR - after I upgraded my video card (by 2 generations), the shiny skin on the fish dudes was enough to make me stop playing and just stare.

How come you guys like Farcry's graphics so much? Sure the graphics were nice, but it looked too fake and action figurey to me.

Id have to vote X2: The Threat or Aquanox2. They werent revolutionary or specifically amazing but they had an unrivalled immersion factor. They made you feel like you were there.

Honourable metion to Freespace2. Its like 6 or 7 years old and still looks good. How many games can make such a claim?

OMG. KOTOR had both a limited color palette and low poly count. But I guess if you stick the SW label on most anything it becomes beautiful. Which reminds me, anyone see those Red Stripe beer commercials. "You are an UGLY man." "Here, hold a Red Stripe." "Look at the BEAUTIFUL man." LOL.
