Best GPU for Dell XPS 9100 with 990X CPU and 24GB RAM?

PC has AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series GPU, can I put a GPU in that will run VR? or what GPU could I use that is MUCH better than present GPU? eBay,etc...

990X is still pretty strong today, especially if OCed. What PSU does the dell have? If you upgrade it, you could use most video cards I suspect without having too much of a CPU bottleneck. Consider the GTX 1060 6GB, or the Radeon RX 580 (if available).

Since crypto miners have sucked up most of the supply.. I would look at a used Radeon 290 (x) granted your powersupply can handle it. If not that maybe try for a 980 ti used on ebay.

You can try eBay or the FS/T forum here (look for a reputable seller). Right now, the best bet would be a Maxwell, as they comparatively suck at mining but good for gaming. E.g. GTX 970/980. But all VR capable GPU's are inflated price now due to the mining craze. Long term best bet is to wait until the crypto-bubble is over.

thanks for the info about "crypto mining", never heard of it, but it seems it's greatly up'd the GPU prices..I can wait..eBay calls...

I have a GeForce GTX 1060 in my Dell XPS 8500. Nice upgrade from the Radeon 6870 I had in there earlier.

Surprisingly, the 6870 was still holding it's own in most games when I got rid of it. The real reason I needed to upgrade was because AMD stopped offering driver updates for it, so newer titles weren't working right.
