I want to go with the maximum possible powerful GPU which is not bottlenecked due to my CPU. What are my option?

The gaming PC specs are

AMD FX 6300.
2X4 GB DDRR1866 Crucial ballstix sport RAM
Corsair CX500 PSU
Asus Radeon R9 270X with 2 GB RAM.
LG monitor, 1080p.

I play games at 1080p with medium or high settings depending on game.

If you've got an AMD 270X now, there's no reason to buy a Nvidia 960 or anything else close to that.

Are you overclocking that CPU or not? With a good OC you could probably use a 290/390 without wasting it much.

As mentioned, new GPUs will be arriving soon...and you may find a better option / better price if you wait.

Yeah, I have to agree, it is better to wait a few weeks to see what the new cards offer.
Worst case is, all the older cards have heavy discounts, which means you can get much more bang for your $$$.

Assuming he's from India, things work differently there. Polaris won't launch there until August. If he can wait until then great otherwise i would suggest either the R9 380 4gb at 20k INR which is approx $300 or gtx 970 at 26k which is approx $390 or if he can stretch his budget even more then R9 390 for 30k which is approx $450.
R9 270X is still great for 1080p so personally i would suggest waiting till August and buy the R7 470 or if he can afford it then the R9 480.

Guys, Radeon R9 480X's info is out. Is that a good GPU for my aging FX 6300 CPU or will I also need to upgrade my CPU?

It may be hard to measure fairly, but I think in general you will still see some return on your investment no matter what gpu you choose to move up to. It will really come down to the game that is being played and how much the game utilizes the gpu.. So that being said, consider your budget and buy the best you can get.

That video shows the -stock- FX-6300 w/ Titan X performs no more than 20fps lower on average than an i7-4790k/Titan X in The Witcher III/1080p ultra.

I have a FX6300@4.2 w/ 290X and I get around 45-80fps in the same game 1080p ultra.

Bottlenecking is not a light switch. It isn't on or off. It is a gradient. You will be proportionally more bottlenecked with a faster card, but you will still gain FPS especially in games which are GPU heavy, or games you play at higher resolution and settings.

I play games at 1080p and prefer to play at High settings.

These days I am playing Doom on my 2 GB R9 270X at Medium settings with few things set to high to get near 60 fps in OpenGL 4.3 mode.

I guess I should wait for a while until games are no longer playable at medium settings either.

You're worried way too much about CPU bottlenecks when your GPU is a piece of junk. (no offense intended)

A. Your FX6300 is WAY more powerful than the APUs most games were written for.
B. Most games are GPU limited at 1080p with some AA, not CPU limited.
C. Given your buying habits, you're not likely to be buying the stuff that gets easily CPU limited. (high end SLi/CF, or single GPU)

Pick up a 480X or whatever NVIDIA launches to compete with it, you'll be out $200 and way ahead of where you are.
