Anything more than a Radeon 7700 series (or GTX 650) is going to be overkill.

It's fine if you want to futureproof it. It matches well with your CPU.

will i will be able to run bf4 in high with gtx660 or i should buy 7870 ?

Both of those are more suitable for 1080p gaming. For your needs, a 7700 or a comparable nvidia card (GTX 650, GT640, etc) would be much better since you're gaming at a low resolution..

Have you thought about upgrading your screen? I mean that is 90% of your PC experience....and that resolution is quite low and dated.

till now i haven't thought about a new screen but i think 650,7770 etc cannot handle upcoming games like gta5, bf4 so i think i should go with 7870 or 660.
what do u say?

anything over a HD 7850 is way overkill for that monitor and will not have problems with newer games. If your really worried then add another 4GB of RAM and get a HD 7850 2GB

Eventually you'll end upgrading your monitor and you wouldnt like to upgrade again. It also depends in your preferences if you like to play the games with the highest settings and effects o just run it at a playable settings with 30 or more fps. In case you want to keep the card longer and be able to play anything maxed at 1440x900 i suggest you to take the 7850/7870 from AMD or a GTX 660 or if you want a 760. Yes they both are overkill in the resolution you play (Nothing that "Vsync ON" settings can solve) but its overkill today. What about six months later? A year later? Want to upgrade again? If not just take the best price-performance card right now that will also be good even if you upgrade your monitor. If you are one of those who only want to lauch the game at set everything to low-medium-high a 7790 is good for you. Its up to you, your cpu is really good it wont bottleneck anything.

A single gtx670 in BF3 with ultra and 4x msaa enabled can still drop into the low 50s at that resolution on the less demanding map in BF3 being Operation Metro, should know as i used to own a gtx670 and used to game at that resolution at a point.

Thinking a 7850/gtx660 would run ultra pretty well at that resolution if you forget enabling msaa.

For giggles,i will see what my current gtx650 does with ultra and no msaa does at 1440x900 for the Op as i currently run low ssao and no msaa just to sustain minimums of 50+ at a similar resolution.

well, some demanding games like bf3,crysis3, metro LL.

I can max BF3 at 1080p and still keep above 50 FPS with minimums in the 40s so at that res it would be over the Top.

Crysis 3 @1080P Very High w/FXAA

2013-07-10 10:59:00 - crysis3
Frames: 3262 - Time: 80000ms - Avg: 40.775 - Min: 28 - Max: 60

and i don't have Metro LL

Just for reference

A 7790 or 7850 can easily handle at 1440x900

A 7790 or 7850 can easily handle at 1440x900 if you lower the AA

A 7790 or 7850 can handle at 1440x900 but to achieve higher FPS you may have to lower some settings

My "TV Gamer/HTPC" in my sig was running a 6850. My TV is only 1360x768 50" Plasma, and some games it couldn't completely max out this resolution - so I went with a 7850 and overclocked it.

7850 would be great for the OP. Even the 1GB model would be fine for most games. I hardly ever see more than 600MB of Memory being used - I can't think of any game I've played recently.

I just jumped on a empty Metro server, joined the Ru team and ran outside of a being the most demanding part of the map where with ultra settings, hbao enabled,no motion blur and no msaa i saw drops as low as 31 fps at the flag at a nearthe hatchback and the bus.

I did enable 4x msaa for giggles and as i suspected, drops well into the mid 20's and this is on a empty server, try playing Caspian Border 64 player with these settings just for fun.

1. why not just buy 650ti boost now with new mobo and later on SLI them.

2. buy gtx 660 asrock z77 extreme 3 8gb ram.

why do you need a new board but since you really want a overkill GPU which is understandable get a HD 7870 Tahiti and 4GB of RAM

i was just thinking because my current mobo is h67 chipset and thus it will not OC but my procy do support oc.
