Best gpu bang for the buck on my 4690K

I'm currently running a I5 4690K with an Asus R9 280 (AMD), and was trying to figure out where to upgrade.

What's the best bang for the buck gpu for this cpu? Or would it behoove me to build a new system entirely?

I'm a noob, so the more specifics you can provide, the better. Thanks.

Sorry for the vagueness. Looking at Kingdom Come: Deliverance, system requirements Nvidia GPU GeForce GTX 660, AMD GPU Radeon HD 7870. I've got an older BENQ 241vw monitor.

$200-$300? At some point, I might as well build from scratch I guess. I'm happy to spend less than that, btw. Thanks.

I'm running a GTX 970 with my 4690k for 1080p... great setup but even the 900 series aren't priced very well at the moment, but still within your price range. Maybe even try for a GTX 980 or 1060. Not sure how much the 1070 is going for right now.

I remember grabbing a 970 reference for just south of $150 about a year ago... when the world made sense.

It's just a bad time to buy a gpu atm. You aren't going to find anything besides a rough side grade for less than $200, especially if your 280 overclocks well. You can find 1050ti's in the $200-250 range and I really wouldn't consider that worth the price. You can sometimes find 1060 3gb and 570s for $280ish, that would be a functional upgrade but that's a tough pill to swallow for the price. Frankly, you are above the min requirements currently, I'd buy the game and see how it plays and go from there. You're going to have to spend $300 at the least to get an actually noticeable upgrade.

I think I will stick with what I've got. I've found a used R9 380 from Powercolor for $170, is that a good deal?

Crazy days when being able to buy a GPU for "only" $100-$200 over MSRP, and catching 16 GB of RAM on "sale" for under $200 is considered a good deal.

Just wait and pray the GPU craziness settles down at some point.

only realistic option is buying a prebuilt like a Dell 5675 with Ryzen and 570/580 for $700 - $1000. Only way to get a system with a good gpu for msrp

only other option is watching Nvidia's webstore like a hawk and hoping to nab a Founders Edition for msrp a few times a week.
