I was talking with my g/f yesterday and she says that when we get a house together (we plan on getting married in <2 years), it will be imperative that we have a kickass home theater system, in a room specifically designated for that purpose.

Good to know i'll have carte blanche to put together my dream HT setup without worrying about the WAF. :D

Lucky you. My WAF was kinda high but she got over it when she left last year. :Q

I've already begun drafting some plans for my 'dream' home I plan on building in 3-4 yrs. And, yes, the HT room will be about 1/3 the cost :D

Are you officially engaged yet ? Don't get into the financial binds of buying a house until you are. ;)

<-- Step 1) Engagement 2) Buy House 3) Wedding
Just finished #2... along with an Onkyo TX-SR600 HT system. :)

I'm so lucky. My wife thinks that our 27" JVC TV with a $99 Philips mini-system is a great home theatre. Woohoo!! I don't have to spend tons of $$$$$ for that.

By the way, just wait until you're married. Then we'll see how much she wants a set up like that :)

hehe..and here I thought I was the coolest female ever since I already have 2 home theatre systems with big screens and xbox's ;)

Seriously though, there is nothing like watching movies at home with your SO. :D

The house part will be after we're married. :)

She's not the best g/f in the world until she says she wants to watch big-screen, surround-sound pr0n on the HT system with you. :D

Ensure she doesn't rescind that offer by constantly speaking about it. Mrsskoorb is actually at least as much for a big screen TV as I am, so when the time comes there will be no hassel on my part :) And I already have a decent setup, except no sub (live in an apartment), so she agrees that a sub will be our first house gift.

Sorry to break this to you, but you may have the best GF - HOWEVER when you get married you will have to settle for SECOND best wife at best (because I already have the best wife ;) )!

j/k

My wife loves to watch sports on TV with me and is into football, racing (NASCAR and other series) and many other sports.

We have many things in common and share many of the same tastes and likes (even thought we retain some individual tastes too). Heck - if she sees a scantily-clad big-chested woman out at the mall when we are together (you know the kind - outragiously dressed to "show them off") she will get my attention and whisper "holy cow - did you check THAT one out?" :) (good spot, honey!!)

LOL seriously.... congrats. If you two are very happy together and share many likes/hobbies then you have a great catch and I hope you have a long happy life together! Looks may attract you to a woman initially, but they can and often do change over time. It is her personality that will be more important in the long run!

Hrm....would wait till you are married before buying any house, what happens if you breakup
,cancel the wedding plans and start hating each other with a passion, dont say it cant happen!

happened to a friend of mine 3 years ago and its been a nitemare ever since, his credit is so
jacked, she decided to skip out so she wouldnt have to pay squat on the house and him alone
couldnt afford the 1700 a month payment along with all the other little things that came with
the house.

I knew someone would bring this up...

Of course it can happen... but we're about 99% sure it won't. :D

Don't you think it's better than getting married first, then getting a house... then finding out living together is NOT a good idea? You have all these debts and you have to get a divorce. If you're thinking get an apartment together first, we have done that for a short few months at school. There's no way I'd throw money down the drain by renting an apartment ever again...

4) Divorce and she gets 50% (including your house).

Just watch your back guys. My best buddy got married 2 years ago and he thought it was forever. Then Bam... She changed and wanted out. Then she filed for a divorce and got a lawyer and the rest is history. She got the house and he is stuck paying the bills.

Love is great but it doesn't last. People change so just be aware of the possibility that you may be taken to the cleaners.

good luck anyway. :D

PS.. Aren't I a ray of sunshine? -lol.

Yes, definately get married, and THEN get a house. Then, if you want to make it even more binding, have some kids.

My wife and I are coming up to the end of our lease, and are looking for a house. I Don't like throwing money away into rent either, but not having the hassles of a house was a big help in our first year.

You buddy is stupid, and you don't know what you're talking about. Just because you can't get any doesn't mean you have to crap on others' relationships, sunshine. :D

1) Premarital counseling
2) Prenuptial agreement
3) I have a good lawyer.
4) God meant for us to be together, rendering the previous 3 items pretty much redundant. :)

lol... I didn't mean to crap on your parade. Oh.. and I've been in a lot of relationships. I just haven't found the right girl and I'm waiting till I start teaching special education. Lots of pretty teachers in New Jersey.

Oh and about #4. Who is this God and where does he come from?
