I just returned my Radeon 8500 to Best Buy because I couldn't install the drivers then I couldn't even get the logon menu to Windows.

I will be getting a GeForce3 Ti500 in the next few days and was wondering which has the best 2D quality. Is it still Leadtek? I am a casual gamer. I want to know how Excel and Word will look.

I currently have a Leadtek GeForce2 GTS Pro/GTS and the 2D is acceptable. I know that no GeForce will be as clear as my wife's Matrox.

This will be connected to a Sony 17" monitor running 1024X 768. In 2D I never go higher than this.

If you want to believe FiringSquad then LeadTek's GF3 Ti500 has the best 2D, but the rest of the world seems to disagree. ;)

For the best 2D on a Gf3 I'd look toward VisionTek, or Gainward, with LeadTek being second.
Honestly though, if your not running in resolutions above 1024x768 then you likely don't need especially good 2D. Most GF3's are entirely acceptable at 1024x768.

I'd definitely vote for Leadtek. My Ti500 has awesome 2D image quality.

Definatly VisionTek I've looked at all of them side by side, and VisionTek (atleast the card I was looking at, and the one I have) was the best, fallowed very closely by gainward. and third leadtek. MSI was the worst.

yes go for a visiontek branded card, they dont cheap out on the rfi filters when they make their cards resulting in crisper 2d than most GF3's
