Nvidia is selling cut down GF114 chips as gtx 460 these days. So they really don't seem to care about slapping a different chip in and using the same naming scheme. But if they really were putting GF110 chips in there other board partners would probably be selling these "new" gtx 480s not just evga.
If you have proof of that , I'd like to see it. Believe it or not , they keep wafers around as the 'assembly lines' close down'. As machinery switches from one model to the next.
I'd bet that any new 192 bit or any card labeled a gtx 460 has a GF104 gpu and not a gf114.
