Nvidia is selling cut down GF114 chips as gtx 460 these days. So they really don't seem to care about slapping a different chip in and using the same naming scheme. But if they really were putting GF110 chips in there other board partners would probably be selling these "new" gtx 480s not just evga.

If you have proof of that , I'd like to see it. Believe it or not , they keep wafers around as the 'assembly lines' close down'. As machinery switches from one model to the next.
I'd bet that any new 192 bit or any card labeled a gtx 460 has a GF104 gpu and not a gf114.

How much would you like to wager? :) Look at the details tab > SLI support > Y (with 192bit GF114 Only)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...D=8gl1wb543tle

You can also do a google search for "gtx 460 gf114" and there are plenty of discussions about it.

That's your burden of proof, show me a picture/thread of someone claiming to get a gf114 labeled gpu when purchasing a gtx 460.

The version 2 GTX 460's are GF114 chips (192 bit, 1GB VRAM).
I'd like to see a thread of someone that purchased said video card , removed cooler to prove that. SLI support for certain architecture similarities happened before with certain gtx9800+'s and gtx 250's.. And particular gtx 260's had SLI support, also.

lol Yeah sorry I got better things to do then to dig around for a screen shot. MSI's own website states that its only compatible with other GF114 cards. Plenty of newegg reviews stating its GF114. If you want to believe its GF104 then be my guest.

Why should I. This was introduced off topic , in a thread where I brought up the gtx 480.
So a logic stretch was made about some other line of gpu's, and now it was submitted that gtx 480's have GF110 gpu's in them. I challenge that.

well you keep doubting those that are saying there are gf114 gtx460 when it only takes a few seconds to see more proof.

Anyone have a 448 to run.some benchmarks so I can compare too?
a stock gtx560ti 448 is only about 4-5% slower than a gtx570. most of the 448 model actually come oced and are even with a gtx570. name a benchmark and I can run it on my gtx570.

Benchmark results were not my point. Those gtx 480's for sale now will have GF100 gpu dies, labeled such, have 384 bus and 1.5gb of ram.
GF 110 dies with 480 cuda cores and 1.25gb of ram will have GF110 stamped dies, have 320 bus. And be gtx 570's.

Let's start with 3dmark11. Max overclock run please.

you want me to do a max oc on my gtx570 and do a run? I dont really want to oc my gtx570 by more than 10% as even that requires more voltage. also in 3dmark your cpu is probably about 5-7% at 4.5 than mine is at 4.4.

EDIT: I get 6284 with cpu at 4.4 and gtx570 mildly oced to 807/3900.

I get higher with a GTX 470 on water, but hey they're $130 right now used. Probably snag at least 6k on air.

NO, it's not. Go down to the bottom.
This page was last modified on 22 April 2012 at 02:04.
Knowledge can be gleaned from Wikipedia for sure. But it is not always fact checked and is often mistakenly changed/challenged and is therefore marked as such. My original posts were about the gtx 480 and then a counter post to someone who stated GF110 dies were used because of said gtx 104/114 interchangeability.
Again I'm stating that GF110's are not being sold as GF 100 , gtx 480's.
Do people not realize not long ago new HD 5850's /5830's were released in to the market. GPU's that were EOL, many months ago?

jeez, 2nd link that shows up if you had actually done a google search like I asked... http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/h...cing-palit-gtx460-1gb-192b-gf114-3373376.html

This is just getting pathetic. Yes, you're right. Its all a big conspiracy to dupe you into thinking there are GTX 460v2 labeled cards that came out last fall with a GF114 chip. Guess we should have realized we couldn't fool you.

I second Don. An Oced 7850 comes btw 580 stock and 7950 stock, so nearly as fast as 580 oc and much faster than 570 oc
