I've been out for a while and haven't been reading up on the latest and greatest. I'm rebuilding my gaming rig bottom up, and am asking for a bit of help.. or you can tell me to bug off.. either way I will build it!

So down to business. What do you suggest for an AMD Athlon 64 2800+, 512KB L2 Cache processor? What mobo would best handle my yet to be elite gaming needs? I will upgrade to a better video card in a few months to beat the prices so I want something that can handle it fine.

http://www.anandtech.com/guides/showdoc.html?i=2037&p=3 is a listing of NVidia mobos.

Aopen AK-89L, but I would wait for more Nforce 3 250GB boards to show up.

Another one that could be of special interest for a gamer is the Albatron K8X800 Pro II, the one that has the VIA hardware-accelerated 8-channel audio. Personally, I'm waiting for the nForce3 250Gb boards too, but not for gaming.

i have the albatron, i'd say if it has the features you want, and you arent overclocking, get it now, theres not much performance difference between the k8t800 and the two nforce boards. if you are overclocking, get an nforce board

If it turns out it's my mobo that got fried, I will upgrade asap.. But if all my hardware is working when my power supply gets here, I will wait for the nForce3 250.
