Best gaming headphones?

Ok, so the girlfriend has finally informed me that I no longer can game with the sound on after 9:30PM cause she has to get up at 4:30AM.

I'm a considerate guy, so I can respect that. Besides, World War III should be started on my terms! 🙂

SO what's a good set of headphones I can pickup? It'd probably be nice to have a mic on the headset as well.

Thanks.

I have the Sennheiser PC150 and while they are good for everything (incl. gaming) due to good sound quality and comfortable design, I find their sound a bit flat... it simply doesn't pack a punch IMHO. The new model, PC160 is a bit better but also relatively "flat".

Right now I'm gonna try both the SteelSound 5H which has design and supposedly more juicy sound and the Speedlink Medusa 5.1 for its surround sound (4 speakers in each headphone).

After my first test of the SteelSound headset, I would say that it sounds better than Sennheiser. Still, you won't go wrong with PC150 or PC160, I don't consider them a total purchase failure 😉

I've been using the Sony MDR-V6 for about 12 years now. Got a second pair for work a few years ago. Essentially the same as the MDR-7506, but about $30 cheaper. The pads will start flaking after a couple of years (or sooner due to an enormous amount of sweat whilst playing FPS), and it's definitely worth it to go with the Beyerdynamic pads when it comes time to replace them.

Sorry, no mic. But for the price, one of the best set of cans you could buy.

Altec Lansing, I'm not sure of the model, but I use them for CAL and I can hear everything. Plus, the mic is like super sensitive, so when you're girlfriend is sleeping, you don't have to like yell in the mic to talk.

🙂

Icemat Siberias. Best. ever. Got em, they dont touch your ear so your ears dont hurt. Comfy, very very nice set. i think at tigerdirect there something like 50-60$ but worth every penny.
