I used to use a Ratpadz GS, but it wore out pretty fast, so it's shopping time again. Right now I'm just using my desk, but it's not as smooth/slick as the Ratpadz was during it's prime time. The xtrac pads from SVC look interesting (link), but I dunno if they're any good. Anyone have recomendations?

Do those special pads really help? I use the crappy one that came with my computer (Dell) and it seems to work just fine for games.

Hehe, I still use the mousepad that came with my Max Payne game :p

The dell pad seems to work better though.

I got a GS a few months ago, how fast did yours wear out? It's solid plastic, doesn't seem too easy to wear out...

I've got a Ratpadz GS, I like it. A friend had a FunC1030, but it was too small and the base attracted dirt and became slippery very easily.

i use this belkin mousepad, the best i can describe it is like velour minus the furryness. glides wonderfully. since its still clothlike it doesn't wear out optical mice undersides, however its fairly shiney so it can be troublesome to some optical mice. i think its better than the so called "gaming" mouse pads that exsist i've tried.

edit: actually, mines silver, but i dunno if theres a difference in the material.

I like my Func 1030, it's nice and smooth and gives great traction to my MX700

I have been using everglide for a few years now. I have read bad things about wear and tear taking its toll on the ratpadz so have not bothered with them. Everglide pads hold up very well. Those Xtrac pads look interesting how do those hold up? I never heard of them.

Well I just finished reading a couple of reviews on the Xtrac and based on that I still think the Everglide Giganta BLACK is the best mousepad you can buy. It wears out slower than either ratpadz or Xtrac.

Func 1030. It's double sided, one side smooth other side is "rougher" - that description doesnt give the right impression though, think of it as one side slow and the other fast. Also comes with a cord holder, which while extremely simple is actually an elegant solution and works very well.

Ratpad was the first "gamer" pad I bought, liked it loads even though it was noisy and wore out itself and the mouse feet pretty quick. Replaced it with the Func though and no looking back.

That Xray does look interesting, hard to tell hpw rough the surface is in the shot though, anyone have it and a func to compare how fast/frictionless it feels? Actually it does look like a bit of a ripoff of the func surface 1030 :eek;
- rubber mat holder
- cord holder
- tin packaging
base attracted dirt and became slippery very easily.
no problems with dirt here, and what do you mean by "slippery"? the hard pad goes into a softer rubber holder which has very high friction to my desk, no slipping about.

:D didnt actually wear it through, but I think I got through a teflon coating or whatever, it lots its er, bumpyness, worse out the shiny low-friction surface and started getting scratchy. Worse, of course it wears more where you've been using it more, so the whole pad wasn't worn out equally, so its like the mouse sensitivity is... variable? Ratpad really ate into my mouse feet aswell, that MS intellipoint optical lasted a lot less than this one has, and this one is still perfectly fine.

Great pad compared to standard cloth etc, but no going back after using the func :)

Still, pads, and the mice on them, are like mouse sensitivity and acceleration settings - comes down to what each person prefers :).

I'm surprised that no one's mentioned the C4 mousepad stuff; I have the sheet that sticks to the desk. I bought it before they came out with the "mobile" version - the rubber backed stuff. It was the most expensive "mousepad" I ever bought, and it's also the best I've ever used. Some day I might buy the rubber-backed version for my other PC.

Search that thread for my username; I posted a little review there of my C4 mousepad experience. :)

The top mousepads are fUnc and DKT pads. The func is a bit pricey IMO and it's not really worth it. I personally like the DKT pads, but you could save 5 bucks or so by going to staples and getting the $6 supermat. I have one and i'm l33t
