you cant compare an online game like D2 and FF7...they are totaly differnet GENRES!!!

D2 >=< FF7 for me

All are great games (I've never played FF VII but I hear it's good).

However in the Zelda series many feel (myself included) that A Link to the Past was the best.

Goldeneye was great for its time and on a console (especially multiplayer), but console FPSes can't hold a candle to PC FPSes. Counterstrike?

And where is Starcarft?!

I didn't hate it, but I prefer 2D Zelda games.

You're right about Tetris being wildly popular, but I don't think it has enough dept to call it the best game of all time.

we understand that... its hard comparing different geners... it was just fun comparing what we thought... what was more interesting was the results we found when we googled top games of all time in google....

zelda: a link to the past was awesome... but you can't not include things like half life, the civilization games, deus ex, and a whole slew of others.

also, if you want to think of games that had an impact on.. uh... everyone... here's a fun experiment i did a few years back: take a bunch of college kids, sit them in a room with a little bit of boos and one of the super mario games. count how many of them know the location of EVERY SECRET for the first 20 levels or so. has any other game had that much impact on ppl of every culture/race/sex? i mean, seriously, EVERYONE knows that game. it's kind of creepy, really.

IMO it would have to be any one of these: Total Annihilation, Transport Tycoon Deluxe, Duke Nukem 3D, Doom, or Quake.

it was just a debate... that game did come up though... we all just picked one game we thought was the greatest game we ever played...

Yeah, when I read that list and missed Starcraft I began to doubt your knowledge on the whole subject.
