Best game controller for FPS?

I have been trying to find a good controller for FPSs like Counter Stike, UT, et al and i havent had much luck. I have been looking at these game pads with 2 analog sticks and they would be perfect if one could act as a mouse, but Im not sure if they can. One person suggested to me the MS Strategic Commander because it can act as a mouse and has something like 40 programable buttons. Any suggestions? Any good/cheap places to shop for such things?

For FPS, no game controller beats the good old Keyboard+Mouse combo.

The MS strategic commander looks interesting, but the verdict is still out.

I have an MS Strategic Commander, it's probably my favorite peripheral ever. While you'd have to pry it from my cold dead hands, I don't think it would be a great FPS controller, although I haven't tried it yet. It takes a lot of motion to trigger that "hat" switch, and I think you'd and up reacting too slow or getting a tired arm.

If you play strategy games though, it's a MUST HAVE.
