Any recommendations on what the best game controller might be? Performance and game compatibility are very important.

Thank you,
-earle.

Depends largely on what type of games you will use it for.
So...are you talking about:

Driving?
Flight Sim/combat?
RPG?
RTS?
FPS?
Platformer?

if u already have a playstation controller in the house, use this adaptor to hook it onto the PC. winXP recognizes it instantly! other window OS will require the driver included in the box.

any playstation controllers can be used. the standard dual shock analog works great for fighting games like street fighter, flight sims, and fast action games.

Yep it depends on the type you want however if you`re after a gamepad then the Thrustmaster Firestorm range are excellent,from here ,I`m using the Dual power version which has force feedback,13 buttons etc and works great in WinXP.

<< Gee, goose, you stumped him! ;) >>

Man, that was TOO easy! :D

Anyway, here is what I use (or what I would if I played certain types of games):

Driving = ACT Labs Force RS
Flight Sim/combat = Saitek X36 HOTAS combo
RPG = good old KB and Mouse
RTS = MS Strategic Commander
FPS = All about my Belkin Nostromo n50 speed pad. Also use an Intellimouse Explorer 3.0a
Platformer = MS GamePad USB

Hey evylons,
I use logitech controllers (wingman series) and i'm very satisfied. I have tried others, such as Gravis, and have had bad luck with incompatibilities. They perform well and have models for every need. Also it is very satisfying to use something that is not microsoft. Give your money to logitech!!!
p.s. you don't need to spend a million dollars on a controller. go to your local pc retailer & try them out...

Gee, goose, you stumped him!

Funny tenoc and TallGeese.

Mainly for:
Fighting
FPS
RPG

I've been doing more research and am looking at the Logitech Rumblepad and believe that it is the gamepad I am looking for. It seems to have good reviews and minor compatibility issues.

Thanks for everyones help.
