Best (free or pay) software for creating DVDs

Title says it all. I need to suggest a program to my dad that he can use to put both kinds of files on one DVD. Ideally the DVD should have a menu for accessing the different files. I don't have any experience burning DVD's, but what he wants to do sounds like it should be possible.

I didn't know what i-dvd was until I googled it. But to answer your question, yes. That looks exactly like what he would need.

Is there a comparable program for PC?

Adobe DVD Encore is good, but expensive.

Ulead also makes a DVD authoring program, and it is quite good and not too expensive: http://www.ulead.com/dmf/runme.htm

Yeah, encore is extremely expensive. I'd go for the Ulead program.

A lot of this can be done with Roxio and possibly also thru Nero
