Anyone wanna name some they like?

Also, are there any REALLY good apps that cost money that are worth it?

Thanks! I'm enjoying some of these a lot.

If you like baseball, the MLB app is a steal. $10 for full gameday audio with no blackouts, and they're toying with live video right now.

I use the MLB app at work, I loves it.

Free:
SnapTell - take pictures of front covers, and get online prices.
Shazam - Tag songs with Name/Artist/etc from just listening to music, I think this is a must for just about anyone..
YPmobile - Mobile Yellow Pages with GPS location.
myWireless - I think they just released this but I think it should come standard... manage your ATT account info from your phone.

The 3GS camera should be good enough that barcode scanning apps will actually work now right?

Units - Free unit converter. Even does currency
Facebook - It's Facebook
i.TV - TV and movie schedules for your area. Vary handy.
Remote - Controls iTunes on your computer using the iPhone as a remote control
Wikiamo - Wikipedia tailor made for iPhone viewing
SHOUTcast - Internet radio
Dictionaire - dictionary
Translator - Translation program that uses Google Translate
WeatherEye - If you're Canadian, gives forcasts and radar maps from The Weather Network
AeroWeather - Aviation weather uses airport METAR data
Tap Tap Revenge & Revenge 2 - Free game that's a guitar hero clone. Most of the music is obscure. There's a Cold Play version though but that costs money
Wofenstine 3D - Costs about $5.99, sometimes goes on sale for $2.99. It's classic Wolf 3D.
Decibel - Costs 99 cents I think. It's a sound meter. Supposedly fairly accurate.
Lonely Planet Language Guides - Common phrases in a variety of different languages. It even has audio. The Mandarin one was featured in an iPhone commercial last year. It's free.

My favorite apps:

Byline - RSS Reader that syncs with Google. It's nice because it will cache all the articles and their HTML pages so you can view them anywhere.
Air Mouse Pro - This works as a virtual mouse/keyboard for Windows or OS X. It's really nice and I use it on my Hackintosh Media Center to help when I have to click on dialog boxes, or type a password in.
Mobile Fotos - An app for Flickr. This has a great interface, caches the photos that you look at, and allows you to edit/upload new ones right from the app itself. I like Mobile Flickr site, but for $3, this is much nicer to use.
Phone Flix - Organize your Netflix queue (Instant and delivery)
Photogene - Like a little Photoshop on your phone.
OmniFocus - I loved using Things, and The HitList, but this is nice because it syncs via WebDav or MobileMe, so I don't have to be on the same wireless network. I can sync while I'm away and know that I'm going to have the same lists when I get home.
TV Forecast - You add shows to your list and it will show you when new shows are coming on that week.
Yelp! - Great for finding restaurants, etc...

... and a few more I really like

The Weather Channel
Textfree
Wikiamo
Tweetie/Twitteriffic - I go back and forth
1Password
Pano
Pandora

Overall, there are so many apps... hah.

Beejive IM just updated with push support for the 3.0 OS. I've used it the last few hours and it works just as well as when I had a phone that could background IM. And it works way better then my jailbroken IM with backgrounder.

I can't fathom why you guys would want to use a service that compromises the security of your login details and conversations.

Sorry, I suppose I worded that wrong.

Beejive is a 3rd party service. You're exposing your details to someone that isn't the service provider. It's a fundamentally bad idea because it's one more link that can be compromised. You don't go through a proxy to visit the AT forums, why would you do the equivalent for instant messaging?

If your conversations need to be that secure, then you shouldn't be using IM for them anyway.

To my knowledge, BeeJive isn't saving your login credentials, they're simply keeping your session alive. This way you aren't disconnected from AIM/Jabber/Facebook, etc... I could be wrong, but I'm almost positive that this is the way they are running it.

Yea, the beejive IM app says that all login credentials are stored on your phone and not their servers. They simply use their servers to keep the connection alive when you close the app.

Yeah thats my understanding of how it works. They keep the session alive on exit > you get a new IM > beej pushes to apple server > apple server pushes to phone.

Peggle is $5 and Fieldrunners is $3. Peggle was $0.99 for about 4 days a while back; this is the normal price.

Both games are great, though.

If by TD you mean tower defense, here's the good ones IMO:

FieldRunners
The Creeps
GeoDefense

Good if they were $0.99 or less:
Star Defense
Elemental Monster TD
Dungeon Defense (this one might be $0.99 now).

Here is one site I used to use.
You will spend hours looking at these wallpapers.

dont forget to download the backgrounds application from the app store! its free too! :)

ringtones...i usually make my own using the itunes trick (make a copy of mp3 into acc, put start/stop time of 30-40 seconds, drag out of itunes, delete song in itunes, rename file you dragged out of itunes from .m4a to .m4r, drag into itunes, and presto! ringtone for you!).

i REALLY wish i could customize the text message ringtones...i know you can with jailbreaking but its a no-go for 3GS people like me...:(
