Best Free DVD Software...

What's the best free DVD software decoder out there? I'd rather not pay $30-50 for one of the mainstream programs... any help you can give is appreciated very much!

Sorry, but the licensing fees required to get permission to make a DVD player make it impractical to make a free player. There was a court case last year where the MPAA tried to stop the distribution of a free DVD decryptor, and won. The case is under appeal right now.

so far if you dont have a hardware decoder (on yoru video card or pci card) then powerDVD is the best program to get...

i have it and i must say it's pretty cool... one BIG downside though... sense it's a stand alone decoder.. and uses your processor to decode.. it decodes the dvd sound poorly.. when i turn my sound up on powerdvd it makes this whistling noise and it's very distracting..

i used my hardware decoder with a creative labs program.. no problems... great sound and picture.. yet the programs interface was very primitive... when you would enlarge the screen.. it wouldn't keep the 1:3 ratio.. it would strech the screen warping it and making it look bad...

what i would like to know is there a program out there that uses hardware decoders that has the same functions as powerdvd.. cuz powerdvd cant use hardware programs..

I know ASUSdvd is a hardware only program? yet I?ve never tried it
