Best Free AntiVirus Software?

I Downloaded AVG from grifsoft.com, then i read on a couple of review sites, it sux. Did a Google search and found some recommended free scans but no actual protection. I'm broke if i had some doe I'd buy some. Please reply with free site recommendations even some paid ones so eventually when I?m no longer a, cough, cough, day trader(another way to sound employed while not actually being employed) I can get some good software paid software. Your opinions are kewl, but back it up with some reviews. Thanx

You could have a look at Norman antivirus. I installed it and then took it off but mainly because I'm running an old system and it slowed the bootup down. (I have a network and firewall to connect to on boot.)

I have no idea how good it is but it has been around a long time.

it's free as in free beer (including updates for 1 year). courtesy of microsoft. Reviews for antivirus are better than AVG free, and the firewall is zonealarm pro 3.7.179
