Best free Anti Virus prog?

What's the best free one out there? I know McAfee is [edit] the most widely used [/edit], but what's the best freebie?

First, McAffee is not the best hands-down. I love Panda AV Platinum and I think it's the best there is hands-down. A really great, free AV is Grisoft's AVG Anti-Virus. Try it at Grisoft.com!

How so? Sure they add overhead and sure you can prevent viruses from launching on your computer if you careful. But for the masses, AV programs are necessary.
