Yeah, I'm in a small town too, and can't get DSL.
Adelphia is just offering cable here in the last month or so, so I think all the lines are DOCSIS compliant.
Do you think Adelphia will give me the NIC if I don't use it right away? I have plenty of PCI NIC's, but I need another ISA NIC incase I get another 486.
What's the modem like? Any problems with the modem resetting a lot or anything like that?
Also, do you know if Adelphia officially allows internet sharing? I read the whole TOS/AUP today, and couldn't find anything banning it.
Right now I have my LAN set up for ICS sharing for dial-up, so if sharing is against their policy, I might have some explaining to do when they come to install the cable (if I do sign up for it).
Oh, I'm not sure if the Linksys has a true firewall, but all common routers use NAT, which is a sort of firewall in itself.
