Best forum to discuss webhosting?

What is the best forum to post a topic like this. There's lots of them out there.

My web site's hosting is about to expire and I need new hosting. Previously I paid 10$ in a Net firms special for a year of hosting. It was great, but I can't get it again. Basically 5$ a month is too expensive for me. My ad sense is not covering much ( I made 4$ in a year, prolly from my own clicking around lol). I have my own domain name registered as well at Netfirms which is good for quite a while.

So I'm looking to find free - extremely cheap webhosting (5$-20$) a year. The site isn't big (45 megs) and bandwidth usage is next to nonexistant. Basically the site is something for me to just fool around with, and show off to a friend now and then. The site is a blog, but one in which I write all the PHP, HTML, and CSS. (Way more fun than templates.)

I see places like cookiehost.com with great (5$ a year) deals, but it just makes me wonder.

Places like blogger, are about my caliber but there is no FTP interface hosting. Is there anything like blogger, except that I can use my own domain and an ftp interface?

I need to post this question at a appropriate forum, I just don't know which.

Does anyone know a good forum, or a direct answer to me problem?

Your needs aren't that high. I think the ATOT free hosting should be fine.

It gives you:
600MB of webspace
5000MB of monthly bandwidth
25 FTP accounts
25 Email accounts
10 SQL databases
5 Sub Domains

Do you have experience with web hosting as to know if this is a good deal? Is this a good deal? Is the reputation good? ?
Its just something about free web hosts that scares me. I just don't know what it is. I'd rather pay something like 10$ - 20$ a year for my hosting.

i hate that site. its worthless.

Nah. It's great still. Better in the days when web hosting sites were springing up left and right like back earlier in this decade like 2000 - 2003. You really had to go dig there to see which ones survived the dotcom bust and what not.

I still found it useful, and I submit reviews.

You want a simple painfree solution? Dreamhost. With a 1 year deal (go search on your favorite deal site) you can easily run off with a $22 fee for a whole year with domain name registration as well. That's like 80% off or whatever. Plus, when I signed up I had something like 160gb of space. That's like my spare ATA drive I have sitting in my closet, and thats enough space for more than enough data that my cable modem could never allow me to upload.
