Best For The AMD 64 3700+?

The XP-120's like $70 and I'm NOT spending that on a heatsink....I can get a DVD burner for less. What do you guys and gals recommend for the 3700+ San Diego for overclocking? I'd prefer something I can throw a 92MMx38MM fan on becasue I already ahve a Tornado (I have it on a Vantec Nexus though 🙂). Maybe the XP-90?

It's $68 on Newegg for the 120..eek. Actually, how much would it benefit me to get the 120mm over the 92mm and get a quieter fan?

I'm talking to a friend on AIM who has one right now. It's LOADING at 40C on an OC'd 3000+ to 3500+...so dang nice!

Thats nice yea, but sooo many other factors that will make your cooling situation very different. Can't base it on his findings unless you are going to have very similiar system components and similiar room (ambient) temps as your friend. With that said, the 7700's are nice/quiet/heavy coolers. The Xp120 is much lighter and performs better at a quieter level.

65 dBA? No thanks. Wow, isn't that louder than a lawnmower?

BTW, also think about the overall clearance. You need to be able to install your RAM if you know what I mean.
I think some of those larger 120 mm Zalmans can make it hard for you to put RAM in the first slot. I wouldn't bother with those because on my mobo, RAM won't work at the same speed if you put RAM in slots 2 and 3 instead of 1 and 2 (yeah, socket 754).

you realize that kind of cfm is going to wreak havoc inside the computer

xp-120 and a quiet fan is pretty great, i've stuck my fingers into the fan a couple times by accident (so big), the thing is so slow it doesn't hurt

Yeah my finger went straight into my Tornado at full speed when I first got it. That hurt!
