My Gucci flip flops own, they're comfy as hell and chicks love them. While I won't say they're worth how much $$$ I paid. They're worlds better then the $10 Target specials.

It's not a need, it's a want, sort of like how some people feel the need to drop $3k to have a top of the line SLI setup.

Except no matter how much you spend on flipflops you still end up with a set of stupid looking footwear.

The same could be said about anything a person doesn't like.

Not really.

Flipflops are crap footwear to start with. They are suitable only for wearing in a shower when you don't trust how clean the floor of the shower is.

Expensive flipflops are just expensive crap footwear.

Flip flops are great boating wear, if you're on an uber nice boat and have on shit plastic flip flops, you look like an asshat. I don't wear them to the mall or the grocery store. But when I'm on my buds boat I don't want to look homeless. I also don't think Jorts are acceptable boat wear but plenty of people do, so what do I know *shrug*

You should have proper deck shoes if you are gong to be on a nice boat. Flip-flops are for the spa, or for going to the pool. That's it.

Nah, flippies can be used even on Hawaiian beach weddings.

I usually go bare foot and commando on nice boats.

Just my opinion, but deck shoes look absolutely retarded with shorts. People who wear dockers on a boat, I'd say yes to deck shoes. Dressy looking shoes of any kind with shorts is a fashion no-no.

Those reef phantoms look pretty nice. Too much hate for flip flops on here. They're perfect for the beach, pool or lake so get over it. Sue me for wanting something a hair better than the crappy $3 foam pair.

About two years ago I bought some for five bucks, and I still use them whenever I feel like leaving the house but don't feel like putting on socks/shoes.

I'm going on a 8 day cruise at the end of May and need some new flip flops. The Chaco ecotread look nice but seem overpriced at $60. Also found the Reef Fanning which is priced better at $32 but I don't like the looks as much. Any others I need to look at?

Reef smoothy = most comfortable at that price point.

Olukai Hokua = most comfortable at any price point.

Unfortunately, both of these are foam rubber soles, so they will wear out in about 3 months of continuous wear. Till they wear out, they are very comfortable.

I got hosed and had to buy $60 flip flops from my hotel in Mexico (was going into a cave where you had to have water shoes or flip flops on last moments notice).. shockingly I have them 2 years later and they've held up amazingly. So maybe some money is worth it.

Based on living in Hawaii 4 years and almost living on reefs with my at the time in laws at North Shore, I'd still say reef boots but I guess that's off topic as you want flops.

Sorry, just thought I'd throw it out there if you're meaning to go walking on reefs and beaches.
