Just looking for a decent flight game for the 360. I don't need incredibly realistic, and there's slim pickings, but I just wanted opinions. The only ones I see cheaper are Ace Combat 6 and Blazing Angels 1/2. Which game is all around better, or are there other better ones I've missed?

FYI, all 3 of the games you mentioned have demos available for download. Gamerankings puts Ace Combat solidly ahead of the Blazing Angels games (82% for AC, 66% and 72% respectively for BA I and II). I'm not a big fan of flying games, but I prefer Blazing Angels for its WW II setting more than anything else. I loved Wings 2: Aces High, a SNES flying game set in WW I. :Q

I actually wasn't really a big fan of flight games, until I tried Ace Combat. Man, that game is really good, graphics are incredible. Highly recommended.
Only tried Blazing Angels demo, didn't think it was that great, but still decent.

I think the list begins with Ace Combat and ends with Ace Combat at the moment. Blazing Angels really kind of stunk IMHO based on the demos.

I was leaning towards Ace Combat, I just wanted to make sure the higher reviews were just.

Just a note: AC6 is NOT easy, even on easy. Some of the missions will probably make you pull your hair out.

Good info. When I start it I'll keep it on easy.

Oh dougp that's why I've been scared to get a flying game again. I remember they used to drive me nuts. Still, this is great to see a consensus, I am going to check out the demo. Queueing it up now to Dl when I get home :)

I just got the AC6 demo after reading this thread. It's pretty fun so far, I only played for a few minutes. It's kind of difficult to see what's going on but that may be due to the fact that I'm playing on a 27" standard def TV while home for the holidays rather than the 50" plasma I have. Is there any way to get to an in-cockpit view? The chase view behind the plane makes it hard to see what's going on. I think it'd be easier in the cockpit. Maybe that's something that's available in the full version of the game and not the demo, dunno. Pretty fun so far. I checked out the price at Best Buy's website and it's only $30 so that may be something to get once I play Force Unleashed and Fable II.

I was an Ace Combat noob when I played AC6 and didn't have any problems with it aside from a handful of missions near the end.

I loved AC 6 except for the last mission which involved a tunnel (ughh). I'm looking forward to Hawx (spelled horribly) in 2009 :)

I havent played it in a while but I think to get in cockpit view it was either click the right thumb stick in or click the left thumb stick in a couple times.

I grabbed this demo today. Graphics and sound on a decent system are very impressive.

Big problem, though: is it possible to have pitch and roll on the right instead of left thumb stick? I absolutely hate, and simply will not buy if I have to, controlling the plane's directly on the left stick. In the demo, it cannot be swapped, though some other things can be.
