I would like to know your suggestions regarding a reliable fibre optic media converter.

Can anyone suggest a good brand. I using an iball media converter and it freezes all the time.

All your help is appreciated.

Best bet is to use a switch that has fiber ports built in.

Outside of that, I've had good luck with Startech media converters.

I've had good luck with TP-Link media converters with used Cisco mini GBIC fiber modules in them.

Is cost a factor? Single or multimode? 100BFX good enough or do you need 1 gig?

My vote is also to use a switch with gbic interfaces and get the appropriate gbic instead of using converter's. If you must though, I've had ok luck with the startech. I don't think any major brand's make adapter's as they all make their own switch gbic interfaces instead.
