I'm thinking about building a VMC 64 HTPC and wondering: what are the features that make VMC better than XPMC?

What are your favorite features of either?

Thanks in Advance.

Better UI in Vista. And, frankly, if I were you, I'd skip straight to Windows 7, which has a much better experience vis a vis extenders and non-MPEG2 material.

VMC in a 64 bit environment is a bit of a pita imo. I would go with 32 bit right now even with the codec packs. I have 3 htpcs around the house and the one that is 64 bit never works just right. The various amount of workarounds neccesary to get 1080P audio to sync right on h262 is maddening. I am about to try windows 7 since it has codec support right out of the box. When you get started make sure you try out the latest beta for video browser for media center by sam saffron. Its the best addition to the htpc world since mymovies.
