best fax system for small business?

I'm looking into fax machine options for a small business application. I need something simple that anyone can use. A traditional analog fax machines springs to mind, but I'd prefer to go digital for record-keeping purposes, plus the majority of faxes sent out will be from Word. Aside from a fax machine, I see three options:

1. build an XP Pro box using the built-in fax service
2. build a Linux box for handling faxes
3. get an online service such as eFax to handle faxing.

The XP system seems like a good idea, but I don't know if it would work in a 24/7 application due to the stability problems in Windows. The Linux box seems more trouble than it's worth, but it'd be nice to be able to set up a networked fax printer and receive PDF copies of the incoming faxes. An online service might also be a good idea. Does anyone have experience with this or ideas and care to share?

This totaly depends on your budget and fax volume, but I would suggest a standard fax machine that also supports being connected to the PC so you can send emails, documents, ect.. via fax w/out having to print them out.
