Best/fastest 60gb hard drive?

The fastest hard drive for this specific size(60GB) is probably the IBM 120GXP, but I sincerely cannot recommend them at this time. Maxtor D740X would be the best choice for you right now.

I think a pair of 60GB D740X's in Raid0 would be groovy.

I can attest to that John... their sick for large files like video editing... got the 60GB Maxtor D740X's in a RAID 0 on a Promise TX2 FastTrak... seems to cook compared to my single 80GB Cuda IV in another system.

IBM's 120GXP drives are probably the fastest right now but I wounldn't buy one. I'm still not convinced they've fixed all the bugs that were in the 75 and 60GXP models (my 75GXP just died a few days ago). I'd go with a Maxtor D740X, very fast and quite reliable.

i wouldnt buy ibm hard drives anymore. they are too buggy. maxtor is the way to go. fast, quiet and reliable.
