Best fans?

Best manufacturer and or best material.

Who makes quiet fans with good CFM? (IOW, what is the best bearing type, etc?)

Thanks.

Best? Oh my.

The problem with the question is that there is no single question in it.

There are case fans and cooler fans. There are fans of various sizes. There are fans of various colours and led lights. Some are more louf than others, but even a loud sound of one model can be nicer to listen to than a horrid tone of a more silent model. And even with the bearings, many have specific advantages, usually marketed by their maker.

And finally, the "very best" tends to be the one that is not in stock in any store.

I've seen names. Scythe, Thermalright, Yate Loon, San Ace, Noiseblocker. Not sure if I remember those right for all but one I've never seen in real life. IIRC, 'Martin' is the name of a user that has posted several good benchmarks about fans on various websites.

best IMO is delta, but they are far from quiet.

For quiet the YL's do alright and the scythe gentle typhoon's are hard to beat but pricy.

Scythe Gentle Typhoon 15s (1850rpm) are the best, but they're OOS almost everywhere and roughly 15$ per fan. If I had the cash I'd grab 10 of them and load up a Fractal R3 Titanium with em. 😛

Open Fan performance =!= Closed fan performance.

Make sure u fit the application, b4 u go pair the fan.

The BEST FANS ever?

On shrouds rape everything.

Those are the uber rare San Aces...

If budget and price mean absolutely nothing:

Say it with me everyone..

The best fan in the entire universe so far as we know it is your lungs! 😀

How well you keep your lungs determine the efficiency!

The Lungs!

The next would probably be the oraface which ejects carbon monoxide... yes u know what im talking about..

(sarcasm)

Curved Yate Loons for $3.xx a piece. Honestly, I can buy four and pick the best one for the price of some of these other fans.

now look at what you've done. Now you have recommendations for pretty much every decent fan out there.

be more specific!

Delta or San Ace if you want high CFM's with lots of noise to go with it. Seriously, several of these together will sound like a vacuum cleaner running constantly at best, a jet engine at worst.

Scythe GentleTyphoons if you want good static pressure without completely breaking the bank - good for liquid cooling radiators and decent (though unnecessarily expensive) for normal case fans.

Noctua fans if you want something that's generally quiet and well built, though fairly expensive.

Yate Loon's if you want cheap sleeve bearing fans that can do the job of fans 2-3x their price. Longevity is really the only down side to these, and generally speaking, you'd end of replacing your more expensive fans as well some day anyway.
