i havent bought fans since i bought a case of 24 panaflo h1a's about 4 years ago

im looking to buy some new fans. specifically some very quiet fans

but im wondering which brand makes the best fans these days in general, not just quiet ones. and armed with that info ill just find some quiet fans that brand makes

i know sunon used to be good...

Sanyo Denki rules!!

Scythe are VG but not cheap.

Akasa Amber are not too expensive and pretty quiet.

Yate Loons are decent and cheap.

Do some reading over at SPCR.

Sanyo Denki are arguably the best quality fans to be had... and you pay for it. Yate loons are a very economical choice.
There is a company called gcubed that puts out some good fans as far as a balance between noise and performance go.

Expensive?? I bought an unopened factory case of 20-Sanyo Denki 109R1212H1011,
103cfm@39dBA, for cheap. 😛

These are the best 100cfm 120x38 extant.

My favorites: Sanyo Denki & Delta Triple Blade.

I stay away from UV fans. Cooler Master makes some nice blue LED fans if you need some bling...

edit: Never had any functionality problems with Sunons, but they tend to be louder than necessary in my experience...

Which Scythe fans are you talking about -- the ones with the Sony fluid bearing?

I've seen regular Scythe 120 fans for as low as 6 bucks each... putting them one step ahead of the 'trailer trash' Yate Loons, in my book... 😉

Speaking of Scythe fans...

This is kinda splitting hairs, but I'm really starting to get interested in the Scythe "Minebea NMB Silent IC Series" fans, so called. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em, you know?

The 4710KL-04W-B29-V52 looks like a winner to me! 😉

🙂 Smile when you say that about my "trailer trash" Yate Loons.

Do you guys think its worth replacing the stock fans that come with the p-180b (antec tri-cool i think)? I haven't completed my build yet so I don't know temps. I was gonna wait to see them but perhaps you all know from experience whether it is best to replace them right away or not. The components will include: E6600, 680i, 7900gtx, and probably a scythe infinity on the cpu.

I would wait until the unit is built and then listen, observe and check to see if replacements of the original case fans are warranted.

Check for noise, unusual temperature spikes and the like. It seems for that p-180b has the tri-cool and maybe they will do their thing.

i need good quality super quiet high air moving 80mm fans for cheap that i can pickup at newegg 🙂 i dont see yate loon at newegg. and you guys keep talking about 120mms, my fault for not specifying 80mm

Panaflo. Newegg still sells the 80mm Panaflo. But you can also check out SVC.com or Jab-tech.com. Both are good shops.
