Are the ball bearing fans that have temperature sensors the best way to go? I want to replace the fans in my power supplies and put filters on the other fans too. Some of my computers are on all night and the white noise is annoying. I know once I do this the hard drives will become annoying! Hrm...

What about processor fans for Celeron II/Original Celeron? I use golden orbs right now which aren't bad but...

Well, it really matters the fan sizes that you're looking for. I'm assuming that your Power supply fan is 80x25mm (though some are 92x25mm). Check out GiZzO's fan page:

There's a good comparison there. Just figure out what size and min CFM you're looking for and then match it with the lowest dBA.

IMO Sunon fans are pretty low quality. They usually have high bearing noise, which gets louder after a few months of continuous use.

For quiet fans with good performance, look at Panasonic Panaflos. For quiet fans with a little less performance, but cheaper, look at Adda.

Pabst are always an option, but they cost MUCHO $$$. At least for us in the States.

don't look at manufacturers, look at the fans themselves.

ball bearing is quieter than sleeve. but teflon sleeve is supposedly quieter than even ball bearing.

if your fans are getting old, you may do well relubricating your fans. there is a valve under the label of the fan for you to do so.

may i recommend a fanbus?

Wrong, sleeve bearing are quieter than ball bearing. Sleeve bearing have poor reputation for reliability usually due to lubricant loss and failure over time.
That's why Papst invented series Sintec(sintered sleeves)which stores more lubricant and can compete with ball bearing.

Best investment I ever made in quieting my PC was the addition of a baybus. I got the model that had adjustable low speed rheostat and I set it perfect for almost all apps for general use. I have the high speed setup for gaming and you can turn any combo you need up or down. $45 with shipping about and REALLY made for a nice quiet PC for most uses.

Thanks for all the answers... I think I'll start with a couple of sleave and a couple of ball bearing fans and see how it goes. Definately going to check out that webpage Apex. Thanks :).
