Im looking for the best fanless VGA cooler that will fit on a Connect3D X800GTO. The fan on the stock cooler is the loudest thing in my case right now, and i am trying to quiet it down.

Got any suggestions?

Thanks

1. Buy Zalman heatpipe D
2. Get some screws that will fit into the groove meant for the optional fan.
3. Get whatever fan floats your boat (ex: Nexus 80mm, 92mm, Panaflo 80mm, etc)
4. Slow the fan down with a fan controller if you can get away with it (i.e. the new quiet fan is >= in performance to old heatsink)
5. ... Profit?

Anyway, I did this on my x800xt pe, using the old Zalman heatpipe C with a 92mm Nexus. Undervolted, I'm getting the same performance as my old HSF. It's inaudible in my system.

For pure fanless, only real way to go is water or phase cooling.

The "fanless" heatpipe solutions you see out there almost always have a disclaimer that says you should add a fan. That being said, if you get a 92mm fan and run it on low RPM's it should be really, really quiet. Heatpipe VGA coolers are usually a pain in the butt to install though, you've been warned.

I love my Zalman vfc700-Cu, I can't hear it under 2100rpm.

I have one of those Evercool 2 heatpipe units on my 6800GT with no additional fan. Works fine.

Just get a Zalman VF700 or ATI Silencer 5 Rev. 2. Even at 100%, both are still very quiet . . . MUCH quieter than the stock cooler . . .
