Best fanless card?

I have Radeon 7500 now and will build a system soon.
What would be a logical choice among fanless cards?
I'm looking at AIW7500 and Radeon 9000 right now since there is not much choice.
Any ATI card is coming soon w/o a fan?
Don't play games, but will be a multimedia system with an LCD.
Thanks.

Hey, that's the point.
There are options if I spend extra and do some work, but that's what I want to avoid.

Newer cards it's gonna be tough, a zalman flower may work ok, but GPUs can be picky but that's really your only option. No other HS will cool passivley newer cards today.

...as for older cards there are tons of good cards w/o fans, Nvidia's TNT2, Voodoo3s and below, Matrox cards, correct me if i'm wrong but wasn't there a Voodoo4 w/o a fan? You can't get into Geforce cards w/o a fan cause the early models 256/PRO/GT are frigging HOT and had to be activley cooled. I know I had a 256 which decided to fryolate itself after the fan on the card siezed.

There's some Geforce4 MX 440 video cards which are fanless, the Gainward pro 600 for example. There's a few Radeon 9000's which are also fanless too and their alot faster than the GF4 MX440 as well.

Thanks everyone.

Is Radeon 9000 much better than 7500 in 2D quality and video playback?
Or is there any other cards (fan or not) significantly better in that regard?

Thanks again.

The Radeon 9000 is much better than the 7500, 2d quality depends on what brand you choose although I've used a fairly cheap brand and the 2D quality was excellent.

I'm having a Ti-4200 Gainward blabla card and I used some thermal adhesive to mount a generic Athlon heatsink and it works without a problem. (without fan of course)

There is Also tridents XP4, (or hopefuly will be someday

) otherwise its R9000 (I think ATIs have a fan but some OEM brands don't) or some unconventional solution

Damn, that's a nice heatsink. If it cools better than an HSF combo, Sapphire has really got something that separates their card from the rest of the pack! Nothing like reducing heat and noise in one fell swoop.

BTW as stated in bluesky's original post this person IS NOT a gamer so having anything more powerful than a Radeon 9000 would be a total waste.

Yeah, I'm not a gamer, so won't spent 400.00 for a card. For that matter, I won't spend that amount for any parts except an LCD.😛

So Which brand's card(Radeon 9000) has best 2d quality?

Thanks everyone who has given your opinions.

If anyone is interested in buying the zalman heatsink, newegg has them instock for $34 +$ 6 shipping. Other stores online want $39.99 + shipping for it. Link

ATI always makes the best video cards based on their chipsets and they are marked with "built by ATI" on the box instead of "powered by ATI". Some of the cheaper powered by ATI video cards usually have inferior 2D.
