That's the same question I have. If you were to buy a 5.25"bay 4 fan controller/temp monitor which one would you buy? I like the digital readout ones. Anyone care to put down their 2cents. Thanks.

Those look good. I ordered the digital doc 5+ but think I maybe made a mistake because they told me I could control fan speed with it but after doing alot of checking I don't think I can control fan speed. Just temp and when the temp is below my shut off point my fans shut off until the fan reaches a certain temp and then they turn on again. It had many, many great reviews but I just think I might need one that will totally control the speed of the fans also. I may need to buy 2 because I will want to control 7 fans and temps.

I like the looks of the thermaltake hardcano 13. expensive, but it's also got a built-in media card reader, and it automatically controls your fans according to temperature. As an added bonus, it doesn't give me a seizure when I look at it, unlike their other products.

thx scrawnypaleguy this is awesome i needed a card reader... perfect combo :) you rock

Edit: Although this worries me:
The Hardcano 13 is set up to monitor and control up to four fans. With that said, it stands to reason we should find four 3-pin power line extensions and four thin wired thermal probes. Also included are two 4-pin to 3-pin Molex adapters with RPM wires so you can run larger fans. By using the adapters in operation, you can monitor fan speeds but can't exercise any control over them.

This is mine.

4 temp sensors, fan controllers, a pile of interchangeable faceplates, different color lighting.

looks nice. i think the only reason i'm liking the other one is for the automatic stuff, alarm, and 6 in 1 card reader (which i need anyway.... i doubt i need more than the 6 most popular)

See if any of you computer geniuses can answer this. With the digital doc 5+ is doesn't control fan speed, just off and on but it does monitor temps. Could I get a y connecter for the fan connectors and hook up one to the doc 5 and one to a speed controller. Does anyone know the answer to this?

i use a sunbeam rheobus as well...does wonders for controlling high db fans. what makes it so useful is that you can actually turn the fan all the way up and all the way off, so if you're sleeping and it gets too loud, just turn off a fan or two and you're good to go

one of them is me. I recommend it to everyone. 20W per channel and it can turn off the channel when not needed. The vantec one is a PWM controller and it causes buzzing noises in fans. I bought mine 4 years ago, been through many rebuilds and its still running like new.

60bux to have the memory thing built-in is not worth it..

I'm still on my first cup of coffee, sorry for the blank post.

I'm in the process of setting up a different case for my gear.
Yesterday I bench tested my fans using a Vantec Nexus 205 and there was a slight growl
caused by the fact that the 205 uses PWM(pulse width modulation, Google it).

Because I find it irritating does not mean you or anyone else will.
So I orsered a 51/2" bay simple Sunbeam that uses rheostats for fan control. As was stated
earlyer, it will handle 20 watts per channel so two or more fans can be hooked-up to
each one.
I bought from Jab-tech, I also ordered two digital temp displays to mount in one of the
surplus 51/2" bay covers I have.

The only negative, for me, about the Sunbeam is the apperance of the cover. It will be
necessary to adapt another of the surplus covers to replace it. Paint might do but with
several covers to work with, I might get it right.

At silentpcreview.com they reccomend the Zalman or Sunbeam.
7volts.com is also worth a look.

again sorry for the blank post.

For cheaper than the Hardcano ($60) you can get a Sunbeam ($16) and and a floppy/multi format card reader ($30). Yeah it takes up one more bay, but who want Thermalcrap products anyways?

Harcano is a great choice, don't let thermalhaters change a fact. I own a Hardcano 12 (it was given to me) and not only does it look nice, it works great.
