GiZzO was selling something like this at one point on here. In case you all don't want to build your own. I bought one and I'm plased with it.

$38-$45 +shipping for what it is, thats a rip off to on top of a $20-$60 heatsink. Thats roughly $100 for cooling. You could get a faster chip for those prices.... (note, this is not to flame, just to inform those thinking about one)

I guess i get to learn how to use metal snips and aluminum. hehe.

pHaestus stole that from me! :)

Heh, nah actully i don't think he did, pretty easy idea to come up with, it just takes alot time and work to do it.

Heres a pic of it from way back when
Heres another

I stop making those a couple months back cause it was fun to make for a little while, but after a while they were just way to time comsuming and as i was selling em for about $15 bucks wasn't really worth it. Plus i had another idea in mind which i am still working on and off on. Which is this one:

Dually Taisol!
Airflow gap

HomerSapien:
For sure $38-45 is a not worth it, espically when your buying an generic adapter with really no performance gains. The adapters pHaestus and i made are different and more effecient in a way the span over the whole 80mm wide of the heatsink, so they are customly made to work with this heatsikn only. Thats mainly were i got my idea from seeing that the heatsink is 80mm wide, why not use the whole area, instead of sizing it down and restricting the air down too 60mm. Which is the main reason why these adapters perform so poor because of the restriction, when opening it up 80mm kinda leaves a relief point, so the fan can work more efficently.

I did the poor-man's DYI 80mm fan setup. I have a Vantec 7245 and all I did to fit a 80mm fan on top was to pry apart the fins like a fan. Since the width is 60mm (length is already 80mm), it doesn't take much "fanning" to fit the 80mm fan on top.

Then I just used the factory retaining clips and screws to attach the fan. Yes, the screws sit a little askew on the slanted fins, but it is secure.

Did the mod last night and my room is finally peaceful even with the side case panel off.

Currently I have the fan blowing away from the HS and the temp reading (using Asus PCProbe and mobo thermistor) was 3~4 higher than with the stock Delta fan. However, I am more than happy with letting the CPU cook few degrees higher for the sake of my aural sanity! :D

So what I'm really trying to say is:

Don't waste your hard-earned $$$ on a stupid-ass overpriced adapter!!! Use a little bit of ingenuity. I considered the following: wire clothes hanger, zip ties (high temp, of course), and cheap 50cent metal braces from a hardware store. That $40 adapter is the price difference between Athlon 1GHz and 1.33Ghz!!!
