Best Electric Shaver?

Ladies (or possibly lady) and Gentlemen, for my 1000'th post, I present to you a post of suitably earth-shattering proportions...

Or not.

I've finally gone off wet shaving after like 10 years of doing this. The last shaver I had, a Braun somethingorother, disappointed immensely.

So, my question is, what is the best electric shaver on this planet? Cost (nearly) no object - well, let's say under $500. Taking aside extraneous features such as self-cleaning, what I'm after is the best in what an electric shaver is supposed to do: Shave.

Suggestions?

Here's a great thread worth reading, unfortunately since it's been archived this will have to become part II as we can no longer bump that previous thread.

The best electric shavers should cost a max of $179 and that's retail, who pays retail these days? Not I.

Panasonic Wet/Dry. You can't beat wet electric shaving in the shower.

I am also looking for a new electric shaver. I mainly use the Mach3 which is awesome but replacing the blades is rather costly. I think I am stuck between a Norelco Advantage w/ the gel, the new Norelco Spectra or something and the self cleaning Braun.

Thanks Guys. Seems to be a big nod for the Norelcos but I don't think it's distributed in the UK.
I guess it'll have to be the Braun...

I use a Remington, but my neck breaks out with rash type things. and leaves it very dry... i was thinking of getting a new one..ive been using this one for almost 2 years now...plus I have a hard time in shaving the neck area, I have to go over it MANY times...

Do yall recommend the Norelco Quadra Action Shaver or the Panasonic ES8003W Men's Wet/Dry Rechargeable Linear Shaver with 3D ?

Or anything else in the sub $75 range

I have extremely sensitive skin... I have been through literally 10+ electric shavers in the past 8 years... Brauns, Norelcos, a Remington... all have given me terrible rashes...

A year ago a bought a Panasonic Wet/Dry 'Linear'. The thing goes at like 12,000 rpms. This is THE best shaver I have ever used! NO skin irritation and an awesome shave. Easy to clean... shaving isn't a bitch anymore... what more can I say.

thats the one i want! too bad its $129!! Does it shave as well "dry" as it does "wet" ?? And does doing it "wet" reduce the skin irritation?

If you have a hard time shaving your neck hairs now, I don't think the Panasonic will do you much good either. I have one and I generally just take a razor and get my neck because it would take too long to get it with the electric. On the plus side, I don't get any rashes or anything.

Also, I've heard people have gotten the Panasonic 8003 in their Amazon Gold Box for like $75 I think. I bought mine new for about $110 off of ebay.

I have the 8003 now. I had the Panasonic with the floating head (forget model #) before until the batteries died. The floating head one is much much better. If you are to get a Panasonic, I would recommend that you spend the extra $ and get the one with the floating head. I believe it is the 8068 (don't quote me on it).

Edit: I have really thick neck hairs that grows in weird grains so I never seem to get a good shave even with a razor. In fact, I get a lot of ingrown hairs which are a real bitch to deal with.
