So let's say you want to give some money to the needy kids and families. What is the best way to do it? Should one just give to a charity and let them handle it, or how about those angel trees at malls and other stores. Would calling dept human services/welfare be a better idea? What do you all think?

Really depends on how much money.

If it's a large amount of money try and call the dept of human services and get a bunch of charity names, if it's a small amount just call up a charity and donate it to them.

Volunteer a few hours at the local hospital this community season. Be a porter and, among other duties, take people out for smokes/fresh air in their wheelchair. Nurses these days are complete and utter b!tches who won't take them down, let alone outside for a smoke. I say fug it... they are dying, let them have their vice.

Sometimes they just want an ear to listen to them when they have no family left (or they don't visit)... it is frigging lonely sitting bed-ridden and watching a little tiny ass colour TV all day. I try to joke around with them, and not just simple "hi how are you" fakeass stuff.

Many of the people I befriended have died but I'd like to think I brightened their day more then just tossing some money around.

You might call some local churches and tell them you might like to sponsor or donate to some truely needy families this season.
