best/easiest way to cut acrylic for window

If you have access to a machine shop or have a friend who does, a bandsaw works magic with acrylic panels.

A drill press helps too with drilling mounting holes.

it depends on the cut. For a straight line a scribe works just fine. If you need to do anything round a bandsaw will work very well. Also if you have a VERY steady hand a good concentration a high speed dremmel drum cutting bit will work well, though it doesn't so much cut as melt it does work well. As for mounting it to the pannel it again depends onteh situation. If you want it to look very flush mounted then some caulk or similar adhesive will work just fine. Or you can go with the beading stuff tehy sell at just a bout any mod store online though I don't think that option look svery good at all.

I got a Dremel at Home Depot (came with a nice kit, and was made by Dremel) for ~$60.

It is well worth your money.

When i cut my case i did notice it more melted like Derwen said. However it is a very clean cut.

would the dremel cut it better than a jig saw or replicating saw? I'll most likely be cutting a simple square

edit: I got the cut part under control. My mom(works at Home Depot) told me the man that works in the windows department can cut it for me.
🙂

However you cut it, it looks awful unless you polish the cut edges. This is best done on a cloth wheel made up of many layers of fabric. You can get one mounted on a spindel and use in an electric drill or just buy one for a bench grinder. Buy a stick of jewlers rouge and hold it againist the running cloth wheel to apply it, then hold your plastic against the wheel to polish. You can make the edges polished and rounded in a few seconds and it looks professional rather than as if a rodent was used to knaw it to size.

ok, im also thinking of cutting a blowhole on the top of a super lanboy and make the hole enough size to fit a 120mm fan. what size hole saw should i get? it looks as if the 4.5" hole saw is ~114 mm cut, but the 4.75" is a ~121 mm cut. do i need to cut smaller than the fan so i can drill the screw holes or should i use the 4.75"?

EdIT: Fixed comparative mm sizes
